About Hermosa Beach Sister City

In 1967 Hermosa Beach formed a "sister city" relationship with the city of Loreto, in Mexico. The Hermosa Beach Sister City Association (HBSCA) was thus formed. This serene, picturesque fishing village is located on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. Over the years, the HBSCA has forged a very close bond with Loreto. With assistance and guidance from their sister city Loreto has vastly improved the quality of life for its residence and created opportunities for its citizens. Some of the opportunities include:

Cultural education
- Ongoing student exchange programs between Hermosa Beach and Loreto Junior High School students
Medical assistance & paramedic training
- A 20-bed medical clinic was recently built and equipped
- Refurbished ambulance and heart defibrillator recently donated
Educational funding
- Teach-the-teacher courses on environmental education
- Classroom supplies
- Computer labs
Children health and welfare
