Schedule for Loreto Student Visit July 16-23, 2016

Common Meeting Place for Bus Trips (Mon and Tues) Drop-Off and Pick-Up is the Hermosa Valley School Parking Lot (1645 Valley Drive, HB)

 

Saturday July 16

 

*Families provide transportation

Students Arrive @ LAX Terminal 6!

(Families bring “Welcome Signs” to pick up Students)

Details:

·        Alaska Airlines Flight #0213

·        Arrives at 3:28pm

·        They should clear customs by 4:28pm or earlier

 

Welcome Party @ Perry Park Teen Center (RB – Grant and Slauson)

6:00pm-9:00pm

·        Family Dinner provided by HBSCA (Pasta/Italian Food catered)

·        Parents bring students

 

Need a Volunteer to organize set up, decorations, and clean up.

 

Sunday July 17

 

*Families provide transportation

Beach Day @ MaryAnn Yaskowitz in HB Starting at 11am

·        Families pack snacks for student and child

·        Lunch from Mickey’s Deli (provided by HBSCA)

·        Parents and students organize games, activities, etc.

 

Family “Thanksgiving” Pot Luck in the evening also @ MaryAnn’s

This is a “typical American Thanksgiving Meal” to share with Loreto Students and Chaperones.

Monday July 18

 

*Families bring students to Hermosa Valley School Parking Lot to meet Bus

 

 

Hollywood and Santa Monica Excursion

Transportation by Bus

8:30am – Drop Students off at Hermosa School Parking Lot (1645 Valley Drive, HB)

·        Go to CA Science Center (Organized by Liz)

·        Lunch at CA Science Center (Parents to provide sack lunches for child and Loreto student)

·        Explore Hollywood Walk of Fame

·        3:00pm Depart to Santa Monica Pier and Promenade (shopping opportunity)

·        8:00pm Families pick up students at Hermosa Valley School

Tuesday July 19

Disneyland All Day!

·        9:00am – Meet at Hermosa Valley School Parking Lot to Board Bus

·        HBSCA pays for Loreto Students’ Tickets

·        1:00am (Wed morning) – Pick Up students at Hermosa Valley School

Wednesday July 20

Kiwanis Picnic – Potluck Side Dishes or Dessert

**Everyone MUST wear the Kiwanis T-shirts handed out at Welcome Party**

·        11:30am – Drop off at HB Kiwanis Hall & Valley Park (2515 Valley Drive, HB)

·        Picnic lunch with HB Kiwanis. Kiwanis will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, (& buns)

·        Potluck: Parents to provide side dish or dessert via sign-up genius (75 people)

·        Games TBD with students in teams

·        Families pick up at 2:30pm

Tri-Cities Bike Ride (Visit MB, HB, and RB Piers, Lunch at Ruby’s Diner,  RB Sea Lab visit)

·        10:30am – Meet at Hermosa Cyclery to pick up bikes (20 – 13th St, HB)

·        1:00pm – Lunch at Ruby’s Diner (RB Marina, 245 N. Harbor Dr, RB)

·        2:00pm – Visit RB Sea Lab

·        Families pick up Students at Hermosa Cyclery at 4:00pm (and drive to RB Pier Fun Factory Arcade)

Friday July 22

Laser Storm, Del Amo Mall Shopping, Farewell Party

·        11:30amPick Up students from Laser Storm and drive to Del Amo Mall (Drop off at entrance adjacent to BJ’s restaurant) Shopping and Lunch at Mall

·        3:30pm – Pick up students adjacent to BJ’s restaurant

 

Farewell Party ($20 per family)

  • 6:00pm-10:00pm
  • Bay Adult School, MPR, 3401 Inglewood Ave, RB, 90278(Inglewood Ave & Manhattan Beach Blvd)
  • DJ, Photo Booth, Catered Dinner

Saturday July 23 Loreto Student Departure

7:10 AM Loreto Students MUST be at LAX

·        Alaska Airlines, Terminal 6

·        Flight #0256; Departs 10:10am

 

 

 

Expectations:

  1. Make students feel as welcome and at home with you as their Loreto families did with them!
  2. Parents/siblings may attend any event, but they may also drop students off. Chaperones will be present at all events.  If parents or families plan to attend an event, simply let the contact person know so that numbers can be accounted for.  For some activities, there may not be room for siblings to participate.  Siblings participating must be accompanied by parent.
  3. HBSCA will pay for student activities for all students, with the exception of Disneyland. For Disneyland, HBSCA will only pay for tickets for Loreto Students. Parents and any additional siblings are responsible for all their own costs.
  4. HBSCA is a volunteer organization and parent assistance in planning and implementing activities, especially is expected and appreciated!
