Hermosa Beach Sister City Association

In 1967 Hermosa Beach formed a "sister city" relationship with the city of Loreto, in Baja California Sur, Mexico. The Hermosa Beach Sister City Association (HBSCA) was thus formed. This serene, picturesque fishing village is located on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. Over the years, the HBSCA has forged a very close bond with Loreto and its citizens. With assistance and guidance from the HBSCA. Loreto has vastly improved the quality of life for its residence and created many opportunities for its citizens. HBSCA is a United States Congressional recognized program.

Saving A Life

This is where your donations go my friends. Here is a story from Paramedic Paul that we just heard about. Read on…

A few days ago the Loreto paramedics had a patient that needed the pacemaker feature on the Zoll machine (the one that was just repaired and shipped back to Loreto). He said that they transported him all the way to La Paz, with the machine keeping him alive! That’s an amazing story. But wait, there’s more to the story. When you guys (HBSCA) agreed to buy the Zoll, Mike G (Hermosa Paramedic)  took it upon himself to do a little more (as always). The Zoll batteries last about 30- 40 minutes. The trip to La Paz is three hours. Since the machine has a 120 volt AC power cord, he bought a 12/120 volt inverter for them and they installed it in the Hermosa ambulance. If it were not for that, plus you guys buying the Zoll, that patient would not be alive.

So, we all are making a difference!

Fire Equipment Donation

The city of Hermosa Beach donated used fire equipment that the fire department would not use in the future.  The recipients of this equipment are our sister city Loreto Mexico.  In keeping with the sister city pledge to help our sister city where we can, we were able to donate wildland fire equipment, “Over the Side” Rescue Gear and Structural Firefighting Protective Equipment…

Everyone in Loreto is extremely grateful! This will be put to good use and help save lives and structures effected by fires.
